By Evang. Joachim P. Erameh

The greatest mistake anyone can make in life is to go to hell. It is a highly regrettable mistake. Jesus Himself said it’s better not to be born than to be born and end up in hell (Matthew 26:24).

Sin is a hindrance to salvation. The Bible says all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). However, if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

The problem isn’t just sin, but refusing to repent. Hell is a place of everlasting punishment and regret. It’s not God’s will that anyone goes there. Jesus Christ came to save us from sin and hell. But anyone who refuses to repent and follow Jesus will end up in hell. As Isaiah 5:14a says, “Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure.”

Dear reader, don’t make the mistake of going to hell. It’s a costly mistake you won’t recover from. If you’re living in sin, repent immediately and surrender your life to Jesus Christ. He’ll forgive you and give you eternal life.

Pray this prayer: and believe in your heart that your sins have been forgiven:

“Lord Jesus, I’m a sinner. I repent of my sins and ask for your forgiveness. Come into my life, save me from hell, and write my name in the book of life. Thank you for your love and mercy. Amen.”

Next Steps:

If you’ve prayed, take these steps:

  1. Find a Bible-believing Church (Hebrews 10:25).
  2. Live a holy life (Hebrews 12:14).
  3. Study God’s word daily (2 Timothy 2:15).
  4. Be prayerful (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
  5. Focus on heaven (Colossians 3:2).
