There are two destinations in eternity: heaven and hell. Everyone ends up in one of these places. When someone passes on, they’re either in heaven or hell. Sometimes, we say someone has “passed on to glory”, but did you know some people we celebrate at funerals actually went to hell?

Heaven and hell are permanent destinations. Where we find ourselves at the end remains our home forever. That’s why we must be careful how we live. Don’t make the mistake of going to hell, a place of everlasting punishment. The price is too costly. The rich man in the Bible who went to hell is still there today. Psalm 9:17 says, ‘The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.”

The Bible reveals that between heaven and hell, there’s a big gulf that makes it impossible for anyone in hell to cross to heaven. Luke 16:26 says, “And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.” This gulf is a sobering reminder of the importance of making the right choice.

The Bible says it’s appointed for people to die once, and after that comes judgment (Hebrews 9:27). So, dear reader, where will you spend eternity? Heaven is for those who’ve accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Hell is for those who’ve rejected Him. Don’t wait until it’s too late. Choose Jesus and heaven today. Repent of your sins and give your life to Christ. Jesus is knocking at the door of your heart. Will you open it and let Him in? Don’t delay, choose Him now.

Pray this prayer:

“Lord Jesus, I’m a sinner. I repent of my sins and ask for your forgiveness. Come into my life, save me, and write my name in the book of life. Guide me to live for you and serve you until the end. Thank you for your love and mercy. Amen.”
