The devil is the enemy of our souls. One of the things believers are taught in scriptures is to resist the devil. James 4:7 says, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” To resist the devil is to say no to his antics. Some people who claim to be Christian are romancing the devil by compromising. 1 John 3:8 says, “He that committeth sin is of the devil.”
The admonition to resist the devil should be taken seriously by every believer. The devil is boasting everyday that he will not suffer alone, and that he would drag a lot of people with him into hell. The devil is not joking, and he is not relenting because he knows he has a limited time. 1 Peter 5:8 says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”
The devil has different strategies he uses to make people do his bidding before finally destroying them. The main target of the devil is Christians; hence, we all need to be vigilant. We are in the end time, and the devil is becoming more aggressive every passing day.
Dear reader, be careful of the kind of company you keep and the things you do. Draw closer to God and be fervent in prayer. May God help you to resist temptations and draw closer to Him. The devil has no problem with anyone who is living in sin because they are in his pocket already. But the Bible says Christ came to destroy the works of the devil and set the captives free (1 John 3:8). If you are living in sin, repent, surrender to Christ, and receive the grace to live a daily victorious Christian life.
