By Evang. Joachim P. Erameh
To be heavenly minded is to think of heaven, desire it, and do things that will make you get there. There is no person who does not want to go to heaven. But the Bible warns that many people will miss heaven at last (See Matthew 22:14). It is one thing to desire heaven, but another thing to get there.
It is not enough to dream of heaven without a corresponding action to show that you really want to go to that beautiful land. The person that truly wants to go to heaven will set his or her affections on things in heaven above (See Colossians 3:2). The secret of making heaven is by striving to enter through the strait gate. Luke 13:24 says, “Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.”
How can we know those who are heavenly minded? They are Christlike, and they are not conformed to this world. Romans 12:2 says, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Dear reader, be heavenly minded. Jesus says, “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also” (Matthew 6:21). To make heaven, you must be born again. Jesus says, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). So, repent of every known sin in your life and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.
