The True Worshippers

There are two types of worshippers in the Church: true worshippers and hypocrites. Jesus says, “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him” (John 4:23).

This raises a crucial question: Are you a true worshipper of God? What distinguishes true worshippers from others is the heart. The Bible makes it clear that the Lord looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7). Our worship of God must come from a heart that truly loves Him.

The Bible says Amaziah “did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, but not with a perfect heart” (2 Chronicles 25:2). In contrast, David’s heart was perfect before God: “When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek” (Psalm 27:8).

So, is your worship of God coming from a perfect heart? Are the words of your mouth and the meditation of your heart acceptable to God? (Psalm 19:14). The services you render in the house of God – giving, dancing, singing, prayers, fasting – are they true acts of worship to God? Will the Lord accept them as a sweet-smelling savour from you?

This calls for heart-searching . The Bible says, “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?” (2 Corinthians 13:5).

Ask yourself:

  • Am I a true worshipper of God?
  • Is my worship acceptable to God?
  • Am I deceiving myself?

A honest and thorough examination of yourself will help you determine where you stand with the Lord. God isn’t looking for anyone to serve Him, but for true worshippers. You either are a worshipper of God or you’re not . If you’re living in sin, repent and surrender to Jesus Christ before it’s too late.
