The Last Chance

“He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy” (Proverbs 29:1).

There are consequences for sinning and refusing to repent and follow Jesus. John the Baptist and Jesus Christ both preached repentance, urging people to turn away from sin and towards God. Matthew 4:17 says, “From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

The Bible warns against hardening our hearts to the gospel of Jesus Christ (see Hebrews 3:15-17). Refusing to repent and follow Jesus will spell doom for unrepentant sinners on the last day. In Luke 13:3, Jesus says, “I tell ye nay, but except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” In Acts 2:14-38, after Peter preached to the people, they asked him, “what shall we do?” He replied, “repent and be baptized for remission of sins.”

When we hear the gospel, we shouldn’t harden our hearts or put off repenting. A prompt response is required before it becomes too late. God is patiently waiting for sinners to repent and come to Him. 2 Peter 3:9 says He is not willing that any should perish. For some, this may be their last chance to repent and accept Christ. They either repent of their sins or die without repentance and face hell.

Dear reader, God loves you and wants to save you. If you’re living in sin, repent immediately and surrender your life to Jesus Christ before it’s too late. Don’t harden your heart; turn to God and experience His love and forgiveness.

Pray this prayer:

“Lord Jesus, I’m a sinner. I repent of my sins and ask for your forgiveness. Come into my life, save me, and write my name in the book of life. Guide me to live for you and serve you until the end. Thank you for your love and mercy. Amen.”

Next Steps:

If you’ve prayed, take these steps:

  1. Find a Bible-believing Church (Hebrews 10:25).
  2. Live a holy life (Hebrews 12:14).
  3. Study God’s word daily (2 Timothy 2:15).
  4. Be prayerful (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
  5. Focus on heaven (Colossians 3:2).
