In life, preparation is key in everything we do. We spend most of our lives preparing for retirement or old age, but how many of us are preparing for eternity? The ultimate preparation is the one for eternity. We’re here on earth to prepare for eternity. Eternity, whether in heaven or hell, is a place of permanent abode. Nobody goes there and comes back again.

If you desire to have a glorious eternity with Christ in heaven, you need to prepare for it now. The way we live our lives daily shows how we’re preparing for eternity. As it is written, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” (2 Corinthians 5:10)

How you lived your life before you depart this world is your final preparation for eternity. Every lifestyle takes you to a particular destination in eternity. Eternity in heaven or hell is a choice. Those living in sin are preparing to spend eternity in hell if they don’t repent before judgment. “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers… will inherit the kingdom of God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)

The story of the rich man and Lazarus (Luke 16:19-31) shows that it’s not about wealth or poverty, but about preparation. The rich man didn’t go to hell because he was rich; Lazarus didn’t go to heaven because he was poor. It was a matter of preparation.

If you’re living in sin, repent and give your life to Jesus Christ before it’s too late. As Jesus said, “Except ye repent, ye shall likewise perish.” (Luke 13:5)

Dear reader, where are you preparing to spend eternity? Don’t make the mistake of going to hell – a place of everlasting torment. Take a moment to pray and ask God to guide you on your journey to eternity.
