By Evang. Joachim P. Erameh
One of the most popular psalms in the Bible is Psalm 23. It starts with “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.” A lot of people like reciting this psalm because of its concise nature and powerful wordings. When the psalmist says, “The Lord is my Shepherd,” he tries to show that he has a relationship with the Lord, before going further to enumerate the benefits accruing from it.
Do you know that many recite Psalm 23 out of context and in delusion? It is one thing to say the Lord is my Shepherd, and another for He to truly be your Shepherd. Jesus Christ, the good Shepherd says, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow Me” (John 10:27). Before anyone can say, “The Lord is my Shepherd,” they must have a relationship with Him.
Dear reader, is Jesus Christ truly the Lord of your life and the Shepherd of your soul? Do you obey the Lord? Are you following Him with all your heart? Matthew 7:21 says, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven.” The truth is, if you are living in sin, the Lord is not yet your Shepherd. Repent and surrender to Jesus Christ before it is too late.
