God’s love for humanity is so deep and immeasurable. It is due to the love God has for us that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to come and die for our redemption. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.”
Jesus Christ left His glory in heaven and came to earth to suffer and die for our salvation. He was betrayed, arrested, beaten, stripped, and nailed to the cross, all for our sake. This is what is called wonderful love. How many of us can leave our comfort zones to help those whom we claim to love? How many of us can put our lives on the line to save a dying soul? How many of us today preach the gospel to rescue the perishing?
The Bible makes it clear that while we were yet sinners, Jesus Christ died for us. Suffice it to say, Jesus Christ died for the ungodly. Romans 5:8 says, “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Jesus Christ died for those who do not love Him and who deserved to die for their sins. This is a true test of love. How many of us can pray for our enemies, let alone die for them?
Love is reciprocal. 1 John 4:19 says, “We love Him because He first loved us.” God gave His only begotten Son because He loves us so much. But what have you given to God? There is nothing we can give to God that can equate to His love for us. There is no amount of money we will ever give to God that will measure up to what He has done for us. I usually laugh when I see some people argue about the payment of tithes and giving of offerings. It is because they lack understanding.
The only thing you can give to God to appreciate Him for what He has done for you is your life. If you are living in sin, you have not yet understood the depth of God’s love for you. Repent and surrender your life to Jesus Christ before it is too late.
