By Evang. Joachim P. Erameh

Psalms 91:5-6 “Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.” The Bible makes us understand that God did not give us the spirit of fear (See 2 Timothy 1:7). As children of God, we are not supposed to be afraid of anything. This is because God has shielded us against all forms of evil. Whether in the day or night, we are protected; hence, our memory verse says, “thou shalt not be afraid of the terror by night nor the arrow that flieth by day.”

There are so many evils going on in the air, both in the day and in the night, some of which you cannot see with your physical eyes. Also, most evil activities are perpetrated at night and what you see during the day is just a manifestation of what had been done in the dark. Apart from witches and wizards, there are so many wicked people in the world. Furthermore, you may have been hearing of outbreaks of strange sicknesses and diseases here and there, etc. In spite of all these, the word of God says thou shalt not be afraid.

Beloved, because you are a child of God, you will only be hearing of the evils and strange happenings in the land; but they shall not come near your dwelling in Jesus’ name. The reason why you should not be afraid is because we serve a mighty God who is more than able to shield and keep us to the end.

Psalm 121:7-8 says, “The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.” Romans 8:31 says, “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” Isaiah 54:17 says, “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.” Luke 10:19 says, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

Anyone planning evil against you and your family shall be consumed by the fire of God in Jesus’ name.

Action Point: Fear not, but be very prayerful. When you wake up in the morning and before you go to bed in the night, make sure you pray and commit yourself and your family into the able hands of God.
