By Evang. Joachim P. Erameh,

We are living in a world where everyone is claiming to be a saint, and no one wants to be called a sinner. In life, it is only the person who iis caught in the very act that is considered a sinner.

The woman caught in adultery in John 8: 3-11 was seen as a saint until she was caught. Her story reminds me of our assistant pastor in my former church. He was a promising young man loved by many due to his commitment and dedication, but he was involved in fornication with the sister he planned to marry. Nobody knew they had carnal knowledge of each other until he impregnated the girl. To cut the story short, the Church restored him after he repented and served the punishment given to him.

It is better to be caught and repent than to die in one’s sin and go to hell. The fact that some people have cleverly hidden their sins does not make them better than the person caught in the act. Proverbs 28:13 says, “He who covers his sins shall not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy.”

Romans 2:3 says, “And do you think this, O man, you who judge those who practice such things and do the same yourself, that you will escape the judgment of God?” Do not wait until you are caught before you repent. It is shameful to be caught, and even after repenting, the scar remains.

If you think you can hide your sin without anyone knowing, you are deceiving yourself. Mark 4:22 says, “For there is nothing hidden that will not be made known, nor is anything secret that will not come to light.” We can hide our sins from man, but certainly not from God.

Dear reader, God loves you and wants to save your soul from going to hell. 1 John 1: 9 says, “If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” If you are living in sin, repent now and give your life to Jesus Christ before it is too late.
