The presence of God in anyone’s life is very important. Moses understood the importance of God’s presence; hence, he said to God, “If your presence does not go with me, do not carry us up from here” (Exodus 33:15). What is God’s presence? It is the presence of the Holy Spirit in a person’s life. The Bible makes it clear that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 6:19 says, “What? Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?” The moment one is born again, the Holy Spirit comes to indwell them. The apostle Paul said, “I have been crucified with Christ; nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).
The presence of God in anyone’s life is what makes the difference between them and others. Wherever the King is, there is power. Psalm 82:6 says, “I said, You are gods; and all of you are children of the Most High.” If God is present in your life, it simply means that you are a carrier of God’s power. The journey of the children of Israel from Egypt to the Promised Land was successful due to God’s presence in their midst. 1 Corinthians 10:4 tells us that the spiritual Rock that followed them was Christ.
In the journey of life, you need God to enable you to finish well and make heaven at last. A life devoid of God’s presence is a life in jeopardy. The worst thing that you can imagine can happen to such a life. Whenever the presence of God departs from a person, he or she becomes powerless. The grace of God that the person was enjoying before will no longer be available. In Judges 16:20, Samson thought that the Lord was still with him; not knowing that He had departed from him. This is, unfortunately, the pitiable state of some so-called Christians today.
Dear reader, is God present in your life? Do you know that the Holy Spirit cannot dwell in a body that is defiled with sin? 2 Corinthians 6:16-18 says, “And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God; as God said, I will dwell in them, and walk among them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Therefore come out from among them, and be separate, says the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. And I will be a Father to you, and you shall be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”
