By Evang. Joachim P. Erameh

It’s great to have victory after a fierce battle. No one goes to war to lose. After winning a battle, the next thing is to sing a victory song. After God drowned Pharaoh’s army in the Red Sea, the Israelites sang a victory song. Exodus 15:1 says, “Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD… I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously.”

Life is a battle we must fight every day till we depart this world. In this battle, you need God to constantly fight for you. Without Him as Commander, defeat is inevitable. When God withdrew from Israel, they were defeated by a smaller country called Ai. You’re alive today because God loves you and fights your battles.

Consider all the struggles you’ve gone through and the challenges you’ve faced since birth. You’ll agree the Lord has been gracious to you. Lamentations 3:18-22 says, “Remembering mine affliction and my misery… It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.” Now’s the time to sing a victory song, thanking God for all He’s done.

The mistake some of us make is looking at what God is yet to do instead of thanking Him. If you don’t have a song, sing this hymn:

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father…
…Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me

The greatest victory is defeating the devil and making heaven; otherwise, all victories are in vain. If you’re living in sin, repent and surrender to Jesus Christ before it’s too late.
